What status will ETQAs, SGBs and NSBs with the new Act?

The status of the ETQAs will remain until new regulations are published. Once these new regulations are in place, they will repeal the current SAQA ETQA Regulations. The quality assurance role of the ETQAs will then be taken over by the QCs.

The SETAs will remain with their responsibilities to the Department of Labour. The SETA will be responsible for the approval of workplace providers and any other function that may be delegated back to the SETAs by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). The Standard Generating Bodies (SGBs) and the National Skills Bodies (NSBs) will eventually be disbanded as responsibility for standards and qualifications development moves to the QCs.
