CHE
What does the HEQC look at in order to accredit programmes?
For new programmes, the HEQC uses a set of nine criteria, each with a number of minimum standards. The broad criteria that are used to evaluate whether the programme meets the requirements for accreditation are:
- Programme design, including the complexity of the programme depending on its NQF level
- Student recruitment, admission and selection policies and procedures, including those that will ensure that historically disadvantaged students get access to the institution.
- Staffing qualifications, experience and seniority
- Teaching and learning strategy
- Student assessment policies and procedures
- Infrastructure and library resources
- Programme administrative services
- Postgraduate policies, procedures and regulations (where applicable)
