At the end of a historic year lets plan to make 2011 an amazing year

Dear NQF friends
We are at the end of an historic year. In time to come we will remember the 2010 FIFA soccer world cup fondly and hopefully have reaped the benefits from the new infrastructure, global publicity, and the numerous new skills that were developed. We should also remember that we achieved this in the same year that Greece and Ireland were “bailed out” of the global financial
crisis! So we are a definitely can do nation that steps up when many think we will fail. While we are great in taking on new and exciting challenges, if we are true to ourselves I think we will admit we are a little less effective when it comes to routine and maintenance tasks. Potholes and traffic lights are two simple examples. The FIFA 2010 SWC initiated a rapid build phase which is nearing completion. It’s now time to get it all running smoothly.
This comes to my point. I encourage you in 2011 to also concentrate on good administration maintenance. What I am suggesting is that it is now time to take personal stock. To review what is in your mental filing cabinet and just as you would attend to you files in your office (sorting, regrouping and dumping) to do the same for yourself. Think about where your “potholes and broken traffic lights” may be and make a plan to attend to them in 2011. This may require you to brush up on knowledge by attending continuous professional development (CPD) sessions or in fact doing a complete refurb by starting or finishing a NQF accredited qualification!
Now is a great time to take stock of where you are and to take the necessary steps to ensure your knowledge, skills and attributes are appropriately polished and ready to deliver excellence in your world of work in 2011.
Have a wonderful summer break and may 2011 be an amazing year for you!
