Exhibited At The Star Newspaper Careers Expo

Tue, 06 Apr 2010 10:54

The NQF recently Exhibited At The Star Newspaper Careers Expo (held at the Dome in Johannesburg)

The event attracted 12 750 learners, and just over 2 000 general visitors.

Prior to booking the stand we were not 100% sure of the response we would have to our new NQF stand especially as the event was arranged over a long weekend.

The response was amazing! For 3 days the staff on the NQF stand answered question after question often forming people into groups of 3 or more to try and improve the process so as to shorten the time for those that were waiting patiently to ask their question!

What was extremely heartening is that while the NQF stand was professional we had nothing to give away other than advice.

The three day experience once again confirmed how desperate South Africans are for independent, unbiased, quality advice on qualifications and career path options. The NQF partners (SAQA, The CHE, UMALUSI and the QCTO) are stepping up to provide this need.

In this regard we are also very pleased that the Minister for Higher Education and Training in his budget speech said: …“funding will be set aside to educate the public on the NQF to ensure the wider public, especially our people living in rural and the poorest communities, fully understand how the NQF benefits them.”

We certainly will be building on our experience at this exhibition and look forward to meeting you at one of our stands one day in the near future.

Best wishes
