Make 2010 a significant year for you as well
Fri, 27 Nov 2009 14:01
2010 is so close now one can feel it! A huge amount of planning went into this event and because of the detailed and effective planning, we are no doubt going to experience something extraordinary in June and July next year.
The word plan is used so often and yet in our personal lives many of us fail to sit down and do a proper plan!
If we were businesses we would probably be setting time aside to do a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis as well as a PEST (political, economic, social and technology) environmental scan in preparation for the year ahead. This would be well documented, measurable strategies and goals would be agreed and the entire plan tied into an achievable budget.
Given that 2010 is such a significant year for South Africa we are suggesting you make it a significant year for you as well. Put your plan together. Do your SWOT and PEST analysis. Decide on you vision, set your goals and strategies and make sure you budget appropriately to meet your life goals.
In this regard we urge you to include learning goals in your plan. Learning is not a once off event; we all know that we live in a world of constant and accelerating change. To stay on top of this we must embrace learning as part of everything we do every day. So as you reflect on your plan make sure you reflect honestly on what you know and can do and what you need to know and be able to do. Assess the gap with an open mind; write down your personal learning plan and then make it happen.
And finally if part of your learning plan includes acquiring a formal qualification please make sure it is a genuine and quality qualification offered by a legitimate and reputable provider.
